MWP Labs

Apps built at home, shared with anyone who finds them useful.

Small, independent apps that started as home projects. Each one was made to solve a real, everyday problem for personal use. Now they are open to anyone who might get something out of them too.

The apps

Two projects so far. Both are in testing, free to try, with no ads and no trackers.

Velix

Closed beta

A calm, remote-friendly media player for Fire TV and Android TV, with a companion app for Android phones and tablets.

  • Play your own videos and music from a NAS or PC: shared folders, WebDAV, DLNA/UPnP, Plex, Jellyfin and Emby.
  • Free internet radio, podcasts, audiobooks and classic films.
  • Profiles, kids limits, favourites and “continue watching” that follow you from TV to phone.

Velix is a media player: it does not provide, host or sell any channels, films or subscriptions.

The Buyvix shopping list: items grouped by shop section, one item taken by a family member

Buyvix

Test version

One shopping list for the whole household. No more “did you already buy milk?” messages.

  • Tick things off, take items for yourself, split the shopping with your family.
  • Updates live on every phone, and works in the shop with no signal.
  • Invite family with a short code.
  • Early testers are building a shopping community: scan a receipt, share prices, see what shoppers near you paid.
  • 14 languages, still work in progress.

Free, for Android 8 or newer. On Google Play as a closed test: we need about 20 people to try it for 14 days before it opens to everyone.

How it started

A home project first, then something worth sharing.

These apps began at home. Each one started because something in everyday life could be easier: watching your own media on the TV without a tangle of apps, or sharing a shopping list without endless messages.

They were built for personal use. Made to fit one household, tried and tweaked there first, and kept simple on purpose.

Then shared. When something works well at home, it may work for other homes too. So the apps are open to anyone who finds them useful. They stay small and independent: one person’s projects, not a company’s product line.

Everything is honest about its stage. These are still in testing, they change often, and your feedback shapes what happens next.

No ads, no trackersNothing is sold, and only what an app needs to work is stored.
